Release date announced for Jordan Peele’s Candyman movie!!

Bloody Disgusting had some great news and announced that Jordan Peele‘s Monkeypaw Productions would be producing a remake to the Bernard Rose-directed Candyman, a horror film from the mind of Clive Barker‘s “Books of Blood” short story “The Forbidden”. The new film is being described as a “spiritual sequel” that returns to the neighborhood where the legend began: the now-gentrified section of Chicago where the Cabrini-Green housing projects once stood. No word on if Tony Todd will reprise his role.
Nia DaCosta (Little Woods) will be directing from a screenplay by Jordan Peele and Win Rosenfeld, says Deadline.
MGM will release the new Candyman on June 12, 2020.
