Hellter Interviews Hostile French director Nathan Ambrosioni (Therapy, Hostile, The Lake)!!!
Hello Grue-Lings,
Today we have a young director who made a French Horror film called Hostile. Nathan Ambrosioni. Nathan was born in Grasse in the Alpes-Maritimes, France on the 18th August 1999. It was in 2012 when he had just turned 13 that he discovered his passion for cinema. He started to get insights into the craft of film making when he embarked on (and completed) his very first experimental full-length film The Rush In Tape. With this experience firmly under his belt, Nathan set about filming his first real feature in 2014, HOSTILE and just after a second one THERAPY.
Self-taught and totally passionate about his art, Nathan goes beyond scriptwriting and directing, throwing himself wholeheartedly into editing/post-production work. His plans for 2015: Nathan will concentrate on post-production work for THERAPY (expected to be completed in the Spring) and working on different short films such as MISS YOU (January), “Au bord du lac” (February) and “AVEC TOI” (March). He is also embarking on writing a scenario for another new full-length feature about a famous boogieman.

HELLTER: How old are you now and when did you decide you wanted to be a director?
NATHAN: Now I’m 19. I decided to make a movie when I was 13 years old and I began to shoot Hostile when I was fourteen.

HELLTER: Did you go to school to learn how to direct film?
NATHAN: No, I’m in high shcool. I really want to go to study in US after my degree.

HELLTER: Does France have a big horror following?
NATHAN: No, the horror films in France are not very appreciate but however there is some fans.

HELLTER: Are you a Horror fan and what are some of your favorite horror films?
NATHAN: Yes I’m a big horror fan, I love that !! Conjuring, Sinister, Insidious, The Blair Witch Project…. I love a lot of horror movies.

HELLTER: Describe what your film Hostile is about?
NATHAN: Hostile : A TV show host answers the call of a mother terrified of her two adopted daughters…

HELLTER: Do you also act in Hostile?
NATHAN: Yes! I’m Jake. You can see me 5 minutes in the movie (laughs) 🙂

HELLTER: Has Hostile been picked up yet because it looks like a very good, scary, creepy horror film?
NATHAN: Yes it has. Please go watch it and support my film. It’s very scary.

NATHAN: Danza Macabra is in stand by..

HELLTER: Who are some of your influences?
NATHAN: James Wan (Conjuring, Insidious) is one of my biggest influences, I’m fan of his art.

NATHAN: Yes! I just finished the script of my new film, we are searching co-producer now and we’re casting the actors. It’s about a boogeyman…

HELLTER: What advice would you give a young teenage actor or director?
NATHAN: I don’t know, i’m a young teenage director too so… Be passionate.
