Gritty is a perfect mix of horror and humor for the Philadelphia Flyers Mascot!!
Gritty had his Philadelphia Flyers debut last night at the Wells Fargo Center in a heart breaking loss to the Boston Bruins. The fans booed Gritty everytime he came out on the ice for some reason. I actually like him because he reminds me of horror. The Flyers have a horror mascot and I couldn’t be happier. I’m sure the Philadelphia horror fans don’t mind Gritty.
The Flyers are telling people “This mascot is dumb, all mascots are dumb — let’s have fun anyway.” His mascot backstory paints him as a subterranean entity that emerged from the bowels of the Wells Fargo Center (the Flyers’ arena) during construction like the Phantom of the Opera, where he feasts on hot dogs. Gritty is the mascot 2018 needs. He even slipped and fell on the ice. If the Flyers pre season is how their season is going to look with the bad defense and bad goaltending from Elliot, Then Gritty is the only hope for the Flyers fans to make the games somewhat enjoyable. At least he can bring humor when fans are crying and pleading to pull Elliot from the net.
