Celebrity Picks with Ed Cali (Luca and Iso, Selves, The Handler)!!
Hello Grue-Lings,
Today for Celebrity Picks we have a incredible young actor and director. His name is Ed Cali. Luca and Iso was a very moving film. I highly recommend it. Ed is known for such shorts and films as: Stage Five, Selves, Noise, Luca and Iso, Rabbits Scream, and The Handler. He is someone to keep an eye out for in future projects. Ed Cali told Gruemonkey his favorite Horror Films for Celebrity Picks:
.
.
.
SUSPERIA:
I attended the premiere of Luca Guadagnigno’s Susperia at The Dome on Sunset Blvd, I had never seen the original before that. Seeing one of my favorite creator’s film alongside him and for it being a horror/thriller was an experience I’ll never forget.

.
JORDAN PEELE’S US
.
.
.
MIDSOMMAR:
Midsommar, A24 is genius. They take risks and gives us original content. Especially their horror/thrillers. I think we all wanted to wear a flower crown after the film but not at a commune.
.
.
.
JORDAN PEELE’S GET OUT:
I think we all know why this film is in my Top 8. Funny story, I watched the film alone at The Grove at night, when I tell you I ran back home, I ran!
.
.
.
SHUTTER ISLAND:
Leonardo DiCaprio and Asylum. No words.
.
.
.
THE CALL, PRISONERS, AND SILENCE OF THE LAMBS:
All scared the shit out of me!
.
.
.
THE JOKER:
I watched The Joker four times in Theaters because I knew I would never get that experience again on any other screen. I think The Joker is a masterpiece and is already a classic to me. Dream role.

ED CALI told Gruemonkey this:
Thank you for the opportunity to do this, I love talking about films, so I really appreciate it.
I enjoy horror films, but I find it so hard for most films to scare me. I get scared of the suspense in a film more then the actual scares or gore in a horror. I really enjoy suspenseful horrors the best, I am obsessed with psychological thrillers. These are my top eight Horror/Thriller films, not in any order.
Susperia, US, Midsommar, Get Out, Shutter Island, The Call, Prisoners, The Silence of the Lambs, and The Joker.
Most of these are very character-driver stories, as an actor, I love this type of storytelling. I love knowing exactly what is going on inside someone’s head, why they do the things they do. In some way, I always related and get intrigued by the “antagonist” or the “villain” as some would call them. Pacing and suspense are so important for me in Horror/Thriller films. As I said, the jump scares never get me!
What I love about the films I mentioned, is the story in between the lines. All these movies I have watched countless times and the moment you realize the message is much bigger then the movie, it is golden to me. It makes me want to watch it over and over again. Most of my picks are films that I can see play out in my head scene per scene from listening to the score. I think the score is so important in Horror/Thriller films.
