Andrew E interviews Deborah Voorhees

Hello GRUEMONKEYs, our resident writer Andrew E had a chat with Deborah Voorhees (Friday 13th part 5). They spoke about Deborah’s new movie 13 Fanboy, which is shaping up to be one of the most star-studded casts since Death House (2018). It is sure to be a treat for any Friday 13th / horror fan out there. 

Andrew E: Hey Deborah!

Deborah: Hello!

Andrew E: You really are busy at the moment, the internet seems to be going mad over 13 Fanboy!

Deborah: Thank you so much, I am so excited by this film.

Andrew E: So tell me all about it I am excited.

Deborah: My pleasure, This is a full-length feature film destined for theaters and a wide release on streaming platforms and in major retail markets.

This is NOT a fan film opening on YouTube. 13 Fanboy stars many favorite actors from the Friday the 13th franchise. It is about an obsessed fan who stalks with the intent to kill his favorite actresses from the franchise. As a child Kelsie, witnesses the murder of her grandmother, a Friday the 13th actress, at the hands of a crazy fanboy. As an adult, she discovers her grandmother isn’t the only victim and finds herself battling to save the life of her grandmother’s best friend, also an actress from Friday the 13th, only to find she is now being targeted by the killer. But who is the killer? So many suspects including the man (played by Andrew Leighty) lying beside her.

Andrew E: That sounds super exciting, I hear you have an impressive cast of scream kings and queens…

Deborah: …We do! In our cast we have horror legend Kane Hodder, who played Jason in four Friday the 13th films, CJ Graham, who played Jason in Jason Lives, Thom Mathews from Jason Lives, Judie Aronson from The Final Chapter, Tracie Savage from Friday the 13th III, Ron Sloan from V, Carol Locatell from V, myself (Deborah Voorhees – Friday 13th part 5) and others yet to be named. From Never Hike Alone, we have Vincente DiSanti and Andrew Leighty. We are also introducing Hayley Reece Greenbauer as one of our leading ladies. Ari Lehman, the first Jason, has a rock band called First Jason. His song Victim will be used in the film.

Andrew E: WOW that’s an impressive cast and line up. Seeing all of these wonderful actors in one film will be amazing. Is there any film you are comparing it to in terms of style or mood?

Deborah: The feel of the film is similar to Hush, Cape Fear with great practical effect horror kills that 80s slasher fans love.

Andrew E: Where can people keep up to date / get involved?

Deborah: There is so much going on, from a fundraising campaign to chances to get involved.

Andrew E: One final question, why this project?

Deborah: Friday the 13th has a passionate fan base that has been waiting for almost a decade for another installment. With the lawsuit between Victor Miller and Sean Cunningham still not resolved a new film isn’t likely for several more years, but we have a solution for your much-needed fix.
