King Kong Bundy dies at 61
Hello Grue-Lings,
Today I come to you on a very sad note. Any fans of Gruemonkey must know by now that I (Hellter Skelter) am not only Co-Owner of Gruemonkey with Ani but I am a indy pro wrestler as well. Years back when I first started I was booked on a wrestling show with the amazing man, the ICON King Kong Bundy. When I first met Bundy at the Wrestling Event in Reading Pa for a promoter and wrestler named Pinky, he was nothing but nice to me and everyone else in the locker room. Here is a WWE Legend. You would think, he would walk in having a big head but he didn’t. He was warming, nice, and very social. He watched the matches and gave his opinion to the workers who worked the match. Then it was time for the Main Event, Me vs Bundy. Bundy pulled me aside and said Kid, this is your lucky night. He put me over in the match as I pinned King Kong Bundy for the biggest win of my whole wrestling career. I will never forget that. I’ll never forget what Bundy did for me that night and will always be forever grateful to him for that. After our match, me and Bundy talked a lot and we became good friends. He even came to my cousin Billy’s birthday to surprise him as a favor to me. He met my family and he loved them and told me to cherish them. Bundy is not only a wrestling ICON, he is a good man, a good friend, and just a all around great guy.

Me and Bundy stood in contact threw the years since our match and only 2 months ago, we hung out at a wrestling convention and we had a blast. He even gave me a signed King Kong Bundy hoodie, something I will cherish everyday. I am really going to miss you a lot Chris and I am deeply saddened about your passing. Way to young, 61 years old. Life is not fair sometimes. It really isn’t. RIP Chris Pallis (King Kong Bundy).

For those of you who aren’t family with Bundy, i’ll give you a brief history on this ICON. He was known in WWE as the Walking Condominium because of his size and power. He headlined WrestleMania 2 in a steel cage match with WWE Champion Hulk Hogan. He was so dominate in the ring, that he didn’t want a regular 3 count to pin his opponents. The ref would have to count to 5. The master of the 5 count and the Bundy Splash.

Bundy was trained by Pretty Boy Larry Sharpe at The Monster Factory. The same wrestling school I went to. His WWE debut was March 7th 1981. He had a feud with Andre The Giant teaming with Big John Studd. He also had a feud with Hillbilly Jim after he splashed a midget. He pinned SD Jones in 9 seconds at WrestleMania 1. In his feud with Hulk Hogan, he broke Hulk’s ribs. He left WWE for good in 1995 and continued to wrestle the indy circuits.

He had two guest spots, and one bit part on Married… with Children, as the creators had named the lead characters “Bundy” as an homage to him. In 1986 he appeared in commercials for a PC computer, Vendex. In 1987, he played Uncle Irwin, the brother of Peggy Bundy. In 1995, he appeared again as the King Kong Bundy character. and the 1988 Richard Pryor film Moving as Gorgo, part of a trio of ex-cons who are insolent and careless movers. In 1996, he appeared on an episode of Weird Science as himself. He has also appeared on sitcom “Boy Meets World. He is on the cover of Belgian band Belgian Asociality’s 2009 album Kabaal. Bundy has also had a career in stand-up comedy. On April 24, 2008, he was on a Norwegian TV show called Golden GOAL!

Hulk Hogan mourned his passing on Twitter, saying, “Overwhelmed by King Kong Bundy’s passing, only great memories,R.I.P. big man until we meet again.”
Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake shared his feelings, writing, “OMG can’t hardly believe my friend Chris Pallies aka King Kong Bundy has passed away. Very sad news he was a kind soul. Rest In Peace Brother until we meet again.”
