The new Buffy the Vampire Slayer might not be a reboot after all???

Showrunner and writer Monica Owusu-Breen for the new Buffy series tweeted Thursday that the characters of the original Buffy series can’t be replaced. Joss Whedon will serve as executive producer of the in-development series. A new actress will be playing Buffy, a black actress. The reboot drew mixed reactions on social media.
Owusu-Breen’s tweet is hinting that the new series could be a continuation and not a reboot of the original and that the Slayer in Owusu-Breen’s series will be a character we haven’t met yet.
In the series finale, Buffy with Willows magic powers used the power of a magical scythe to activate potential Slayers of all ages all over the world. Maybe the new slayer will be one of the woken slayers?????
